Arthur…

Please scroll down the page to watch Arthur’s video ‘Arthur does high five!’

Arthur, a beautiful 4-6 year old red Staffordshire  Bull Terrier boy, came to us from a pound in the North of England, where he had been abandoned and was on ‘death row’ He is looking so much better, healthier and happier now he’s out of the pound and in a fantastic foster home
Arthur is an absolute sweetheart, and adores people and fuss. Arthur is excellent with other dogs when out on walks, but would prefer to be the only pet in the home. He is also great with children but he would need to live with older children, due to the only thing that is being worked on, he can be a bit toy obsessive. Therefore, if he goes to a home with children, they would need to be old enough to understand Arthur’s training. He has improved such a lot with this though and as he is such a clever lad, we know he will continue to improve. Arthur is between 4 and 6 years old. He has such caring kind eyes and the most loving way about him. We think he’s gorgeous!
If you think you would like to offer Arthur the forever home he so deserves, please contact us for an adoption application form.

The following is a profile written by the foster carer who is looking after Arthur…

Arthur is a very handsome and playful Staffordshire Bull Terrier,
who is around 4-6 years old. He’s is an adorable and sweet chap,
who loves nothing better than a good old belly rub!

He loves his walks and has a fair amount of energy, but he’s also
very happy to laze around the house with you – a bit of both is
his ideal day!

He’s great in the car, usually just having a little nap on the
way. He’s not destructive, is trained to sleep in his crate and
can be left for short periods in the day.

He’s very smart and eager to please – he’s learning commands and
behaviours really quickly, especially considering he really
didn’t know anything just a couple of weeks ago. He’s good on the
halti lead and is getting even better with practice. He is fine
with most dogs and could possibly live with another dog if it’s a
good match, but he does love attention so he would be delighted
to find a home where he’s the only pup.

Arthur is great with all people, including children – he’s always
happy to meet someone new, not only wagging his tail, but his
whole body along with it! With a little bit of time and patience,
Arthur could be the perfect pup – he has a lot of love to give
and will be someone’s lifelong best friend if they can just give
him a forever home.

Betsy…

Betsy came to us from a pound, and is now in foster care with us, and will be looking for a permanent home in the near future. She has a skin condition at present, this means she can’t be spayed until the treatment for this has finished, so she will not be looking for a home until she has been spayed.

Betsy is a small brindle staffie female, aged around 4 years old. She is very snuggly and affectionate. She is not too keen on other dogs at the moment, but is improving, and is beginning to get used to the dogs we have here. Please check back for updates about Betsy!

Bear…

Bear has been rehomed

Hello my name is Bear. I am a 3-4 year old German Shepherd cross Labrador and I am looking for my human soulmate. I thought I had found my soulmate, but they abandoned me and I ended up at the pound. I was very sad and confused and I didn’t know what was going to happen to me. I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong, so I didn’t understand why I was there.

Then, one day, I went on a long journey and at the end of the journey I met some rescue people who seemed very pleased to see me. They called me Bear and I went to live in their house with their other dogs. I felt so much happier. I had doggie friends to be with, long walks and nice food. The rescue people kept telling me how beautiful I am, with my golden fur and big brown eyes. I am still living there, but now I need my own people to give me a home.

One of my best attributes is how much I care, so much so, that the rescue people have nicknamed me ‘The Care Bear’. My rescue Mummy was ill for a few days and she was in bed. I know that dogs are man’s best friend, so I did my duty, and I did not leave her side until she felt better.

I mostly want to find someone who will appreciate how much I care and who will care for me as much too. I am quite a big dog but I have very nice manners. I do admit that I can pull on my lead but me and my rescue people are working on it. I wouldn’t make a mess in your house and I would never dream of chewing up anything that wasn’t mine! Care Bears know how to respect the property of others! I love to go for walks and I enjoy outings in the car. I wish I could say that I could live with cats and I won’t want to chase them, but if I did, I would be lying!
I can live with children but I think I might be a bit big for the really little ones.
All I want is to have someone to cuddle and somewhere to belong. If you are my human soulmate, please get in touch with the rescue.

Bear is being fostered on the Devon/Somerset/Dorset borders EX13

Hope…

Hope has been rehomed

Beautiful Hope was abandoned at the pound. She is now in a foster home under the care of Once Loved Dog Rescue. Everyone who has met Hope has fallen in love with this gorgeous young lady. The volunteer driver who took her out of the pound nicknamed her ‘Bambi’ because “she was so pretty, gentle and kind and curled up on my car seat like a deer hiding in the grass” Hope is wonderful with other dogs and thoroughly enjoys the play and companionship of other dogs. She is cat friendly so she could also live with cats. Hope is excellent with children too. She is so very loving and affectionate, and has a huge amount of love to give. Hope is housetrained and she is fine to be left for short periods. She is also fantastic in the car and will just curl up on car journeys. This sweet girl will be someone’s best friend for life. All she wants is to be loved.

Hope  is being fostered in the Lincs, LN10 area.

Roxanne…

Roxanne has been rehomed

Meet the beautiful Roxanne, an extremely affectionate and pretty one year old staffie cross female, who came to Once Loved Dog Rescue from a pound in the North of England. Roxanne is so very loving and sweet. She is one of the cuddliest dogs I’ve ever known. When you cuddle her she either lays her head on your shoulder, or presses her cheek against your face. It’s unbelievably sweet. She is a perfect mix of playful and calm at the same time. ie she has her playful times, and she absolutely loves to play with her ball or toys, but she is just as happy to sit on your lap or as close to you as she possibly can and just hold her ball gently in her mouth, almost as though it gives her comfort to just hold her ball. She has this lovely air about her, and she is obviously very intelligent.

She knows all her commands, such as sit, stay, give paw and go and lie down on your bed. She is fully housetrained and she is fantastic in the car. She thoroughly enjoys outings in the car and sits calmly, quietly and thoughtfully in the back seat, watching all that is going on out of the window. Roxanne adores meeting new people and will greet someone new with a waggy tail and a waggy bottom, as she is just so happy to meet everyone. Roxanne could live with a quiet, older dog, as being the lady that she is, she isn’t all that happy about boisterous natures in other dogs. She would also be happy as the only dog in a home. We also feel that Roxanne would be best in a home without cats. This wonderful girl will be your best friend. She is so very loyal and has so much love to give. We think that whoever Roxanne is destined to be with is a very lucky person. Roxanne will be spayed before she goes to her new home.

Roxanne is currently being fostered in the Sidmouth, Devon area, EX10

Zak…

Zak has been rehomed

Zak is a gorgeous Staffordshire Bull Terrier boy aged approximately 3 years old, who came to us from a pound.  He has been as good as gold since he has been in foster care with us. He knows all his commands, such as sit, stay, give paw and he will go and lie down on his bed when he is asked to. He is fully housetrained and has had no accidents in the house at all since he arrived. He travels very well and is quiet and calm in the car, he loves to go on outings. He is also completely non-destructive. Zak is wonderful with other dogs and has shown no aggression to other dogs whatsoever, he is as soft as butter, both with people, adults and children and other dogs. (please note that we don’t rehome any dogs to families with children under the age of 8 years) He is loving and playful with other dogs, particularly with the other dog, Kelsey, in the photographs. We are not sure what he would be like with cats in the home, but he wants to chase them when he has seen them out and about, so we recommend he doesn’t live with cats. Zak adores attention and cuddles. He has huge soft brown eyes and a huge heart of gold to match. Zak will be neutered before he goes to his new home.

Tai…

Tai has now been rehomed :)

“I still don’t have a home of my own :( I may be brindle, and not stand out from the crowd, but I am the most loving and loyal girl you could ever meet! Please can you offer me a forever home?” Love Tai xxx
Poor Tai is being overlooked and still hasn’t found her forever home. She was abandoned at the pound over christmas. This lovely girl has so much love to give, please consider her.
Thank you

Tai is an absolute sweetheart. She is a 6-8 year old Staffie X female who came to us from a pound in the South East of England. She was at risk of being put to sleep as she had run out of time at the pound. Tai is very well mannered and well trained. She is fully housetrained, knows all her commands, she is very loving and affectionate and is very fond of cuddles and belly rubs! She loves to play with toys and although she is quiet and calm in the home, she doesn’t act her age when she plays. She is excellent in the car, great with children and great with cats and has lived with kittens. She is fine with other dogs, but she does show a slight tendency towards dominance in the way she plays with other dogs, but she has shown no aggression.

Tai is a wonderful and wise older lady who is looking for a loving permanent home. She will make someone a wonderful companion and friend.
