Zak…
We are looking forward to meeting Zak, a very sweet Staffordshire Bull Terrier boy whose time was up at the pound. Zak has gone into emergency boarding kennels and will be arriving with Once Loved Dog Rescue next week. Can’t wait to meet you Zak!

We have another new poundie, a staffie x girl from a pound in the North of England. She has also been placed in emergency boarding kennels and will be arriving with us soon. Can’t wait to meet you too Gypsy!

We got a call from someone about a male staffie boy who had been kept in a cage for so long that his claws were horribly overgrown and he was covered in his own mess. A member of the public had noticed this dog, and taken pity. The owner didn’t want the dog, so he took the dog home and had his claws cut. He took him out for a walk, and he had been in the cage for so long that his feet bled. The poor boy! He couldn’t keep Woody though, even though he would have loved to, so we were contacted and Woody was placed with one of our foster carers.
Woody has won the hearts of everyone who has met him, even after all the trauma he suffered, he is still the most loving, affectionate and cuddly dog you could ever meet. A couple have come forward who would like to adopt him, pending homecheck. We are so happy that Woody is doing so well. He has now been neutered and had his first vacc, and apart from having treatment for ear mites and being somewhat unfit through lack of exercise, he is in thankfully in good shape
Our warmest thanks to the person who rescued Woody from his miserable life in a cage, and who put in so much effort to find a rescue space for Woody.
Update: The couple who are interested in adopting Woody passed their homecheck with flying colours, so Woody will soon be off to start a new life in his forever home
Woody in foster care…

Edie is our newest rescue, she has been saved from being put to sleep and is currently under assessment with one of our foster carers. Edie is a very sweet girl who is good with other dogs, and seems to be ok around cats too! but more news soon!
Update: Edie has been fully assessed, and she has been reserved
She has been an absolute angel in foster care, and is very much loved by everyone who meets her.
Libby is a beautiful and affectionate EBT X Staffie girl, who has come to us from a pound. She arrived at Once Loved Dog Rescue on Jan 14th 2010. She is in foster care and is currently under assessment.
Libby has now been rehomed ![]()

Kelsey is now ready to be rehomed, please click HERE to read all about this lovely boy.
Meet Kelsey. Kelsey was abandoned at a pound in west yorks. He was due to be put to sleep as he was unclaimed and his time at the pound had run out. Kelsey is now in emergency boarding kennels. He will be arriving at Once Loved Dog Rescue in the new year when his isolation period at kennels is complete.
Update: Kelsey has now arrived and is in foster care with us. He arrived very thin, depressed and afraid. He is being treated for a very heavy worm burden and this will allow him to begin to put on the weight he needs. He is beginning to come out of himself and one week on he is much more relaxed and starting to play and behave like an 8 month old pup should. Kelsey is a beautiful, gentle and sweet pup who loves other dogs and just loves to be cuddled.

Day one…

Tai is a gorgeous older staffie female who was on the put to sleep list at a south east of England pound. Tai is currently with us in foster care. She has only recently arrived and is currently being assessed. She is adorable, sweet and loving and is so well behaved, such a lady! Tai will be available for rehoming once her assessment is complete.
Tai is now looking for a new home. Please click HERE to find out more about her.

Chloe has now been rehomed
Chloe came to us from a pound in the south-east of England. She was sadly not claimed by her owner after she had been at the pound for 7 days and was on the put to sleep list at the pound. We placed her into emergency boarding kennels and she has now finished her isolation period in kennels and has a lovely foster home where she will stay for further assessment. She will be looking for a new permanent home as soon as her assessment is complete.

Sammy has now been rehomedSammy is another male Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was at risk of being put to sleep at the pound as he had been unclaimed. Sammy spent two weeks in emergency boarding kennels, before coming to us. He has now been vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Sammy has been an absolute joy to have around and has got on wonderfully with our dogs.
Here is a photo of Sammy taken in the pound. Just look at those gorgeous eyes!

Daisy has now found a loving forever home ![]()

Both Harvey and Bobby have now found loving permanent homes ![]()

Harvey and Bobby are two staffie males, both were at a pound in the North of England, and were unclaimed by their owners, and were at urgent risk of being put to sleep. We put out an emergency appeal for funding to help save one of these dogs, and thankfully the funds were raised. But as luck would have it, help also came from a foster carer who has facilities to quarantine ex pound dogs. This is necessary, due to the risk that pound dogs may have caught kennel cough. So thanks to the kindness of those who donated for emergency boarding fees, and the help from a foster carer, we were able to save both dogs
Harvey and Bobby arrived on Thursday August 6th. Bobby has unfortunately got kennel cough, as a result of his time in the pound. He is on a course of anti-biotics for this. He is with a foster carer who has the facilities to quarantine him until he is clear of kennel cough and assess him for a new home.
Harvey has not yet shown any signs of kennel cough, but he is currently in emergency boarding kennels, where he will be quarantined until we are sure he has not contracted kennel cough. He will also be assessed in order to find him a new home.
Harvey…

Harvey, male Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Age unknown at present, but he looks to be about 2-3 years old. I have only spent a short amount of time with Harvey, (as he stayed overnight the first day he arrived, before he went into kennels,)but even in that short time, it’s clear that he is a very sweet natured and loveable boy. He loves to give lots of kisses! He knows basic commands, such as sit and lie down, and he is house trained. He also travels beautifully in the car. Over the next two weeks, I will be spending more time with Harvey to get to know him. Please check back to see how he’s doing!
Update: 11th August 09 Took Harvey to the vet today to have his vaccs – he was so good!!! He ignored all the other dogs in the vets who were messing about, he was brilliant with the vet, and in my sisters car there, and on the way back. We took him for a walk afterwards and he was fantastic! After some pulling due to excitement, he really relaxed into the walk and walked beautifully on the lead. He is one very lovely boy!! Bless him

Bobby is a male Staffordshire Bull Terrier, approximately 9 months old, He knows sit – he will sit if asked before you put food down. He is gentle and takes food from your hand without snatching, he has shown no food aggression, or any other aggression towards humans. Bobby has met horses, and he is very interested in sniffing their knees! He is a bit exuberant around them but again, he has shown no aggression towards them. He is a very playful boy and is happily left on his own short periods of time. He slept all night in his crate no problem and no ‘accidents’ He also walks very well on the lead. From the second picture, it looks like he’s going to be good with cats!
Bobby update: 16th August 09 Bobby has proved to be good with dogs, if a little over exuberant! He has recovered well from kennel cough and his neutering operation, and has now found his forever home!
